Several CEOs and entrepreneurs recently benefited from a culture change and organisational accountability workshop spearheaded by VM Wealth Management. The session themed ‘Powerful principles to accelerate change and achieve results’ was facilitated by US-based culture change consultancy, Culture Partners Limited, and aimed to empower business leaders to better serve and support their team members, incorporate feedback, and collectively work towards self-development and delivering excellent service to customers.
The workshop, which took place at the Summit in St Andrew on Thursday September 7, provided valuable insights into how accountability and cultivating a positive workplace culture can drive growth within organisations.
Rezworth Burchenson, CEO of VM Wealth, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to collaborate with Culture Partners Limited in providing learning opportunities that foster growth and development for Jamaican entrepreneurs and business leaders. He said the session, which was part of the entity’s Wealth Talks series, reflects VM Wealth’s commitment to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in developing the tools to accelerate expansion and achieve meaningful results.
“The leaders of VM Group have a strong commitment to elevating the local business landscape to new heights, benefiting not only the internal team but also everyday Jamaicans, through exposure to these exciting principles that will help to drive culture change, which is critical to the success of businesses,” he said.
President and CEO of the VM Group, Courtney Campbell, meanwhile, in delivering remarks at the workshop, emphasized VM Group’s continuous investment in its culture and its people through its culture programme, and encouraged participants to strive to incorporate the principles into their own business operations.
Campbell said: “At the VM Group, we have worked with Culture Partners Limited to define the values that we hold dear and to dialogue with our various teams to develop a set of common cultural beliefs which guide our operations, and influence how our team members approach their work, support each other, and serve our members and clients.”
Senior Partner at Culture Partners Limited, Jeff McMullin, one of two facilitators said he hoped the entrepreneurs would leave the session understanding that investing in their businesses also requires investment in their culture and people.
“We want the business leaders to think about how they can create and impact the culture of their company – the way people think and act – to deliver on their key results, because exceptional results are achieved when the organisation’s culture is aligned with its strategy.”
Randy Makk, CEO of Bresheh Limited – provider of vegan leather bags and accessories, said he was happy to have been invited by VM Wealth to be part of the session and to be empowered to implement the strategies that could foster a better culture for growth and development at his company.
“Culture is a very important piece of the puzzle as you look to start a company or to scale. It’s essentially the heartbeat and the determining factor of whether you will grow a sustainable enterprise or not. It basically underpins how you treat your team members, how you take care of your customers and all the other stakeholders – to me that’s what it takes to build a sustainable enterprise,” he said.
