Dayton was appointed to the post on May 1, 2021, after a successful three-year tenure as the Group’s Assistant Vice President – Group Human Resources. As VM’s Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Dayton is part of the Executive Leadership Team of the global institution and is responsible for the strategic direction, planning and execution of the Group’s Human Resources functions. He has been spearheading a comprehensive modernisation of VM’s HR strategy, policies and procedures in keeping with the organisation’s bold ambitions to be Employer of Choice and a great place to work.

Dayton’s expertise in the Human Resources space has been well honed through extensive academic work and professional experience in disparate industries including bauxite, production, food & beverage and banking. Prior to joining the VM Group, Dayton successfully led the Corporate Industrial Relations function across the Lascelles deMercado Group (now Campari). Dayton is a member of the Board of Jamaica Productivity Centre, Deputy Chairman of the Jamaica Institute of Financial Services (JIFS), and a member of the Board of Directors of Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica (HRMAJ).

He earned his Doctorate in Business Administration (HR Focus) with a 3.53 GPA from Walden University. He also holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Florida International University (3.89 GPA, Award for Outstanding Academic Performance) and a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons), Economics and Accounting (Double Major) from the University of the West Indies, Mona. He is a prosci® Certified Change Manager, a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) SHRM, Lead Culture Facilitator (Partners in Leadership), a certified Senior Professional in Human Resource Management (SPHR) HRCI. He also completed the Certified Public Accountant Exams (CPA) in the State of New Hampshire (USA).
